We are pleased to invite you to a talk by Dr Jasminder Sidhu, Quantum Technologies Research Fellow in Satellite Quantum Communications at the University of Strathclyde.

Title: Global Range Quantum Networking

Abstract:
Developing distributed quantum technologies requires coordinated advances across the entire quantum networking stack. In this presentation, Dr Sidhu will outline recent progress at both the protocol and hardware levels, enabling the transition from regional and metropolitan quantum networks to global-scale connectivity. This includes developments in space-based initiatives and novel protocols that define the physical layer architecture and improve compatibility across diverse network domains. He will also discuss recent entanglement distribution protocols and their implications for the design of quantum memories. The talk will conclude with insights into current open questions in the field of quantum networking.

About the Speaker:
Dr Jasminder Sidhu is a UK Quantum Technologies Research Fellow with a background in theoretical quantum optics, information, and communications. He holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield and an MSci in Physics from Imperial College London. He currently conducts research at the University of Strathclyde, focusing on the intersection of finite and one-shot quantum information theory. His work aims to develop optimal experimental strategies for advanced sensing and long-distance satellite-based quantum communications, particularly under the constraints of finite quantum resources.
