The PCRL took part in the mid-year PLEIADES project meeting, held in Cambridge on June 19th–20th, 2025. The meeting brought together all project partners to review progress, share technical updates and coordinate the next phases of the project.
The two-day event was a key checkpoint for the consortium, offering a valuable opportunity to align on the development of advanced photonic components.
PLEIADES is a Horizon Europe project that brings together a multidisciplinary team to develop a holistic solution for next-generation composite aerostructures, driving innovation in key enabling technologies. The project also plays a crucial role in promoting the digital transformation of the aviation sector.
With 12 partners from 6 countries, the PLEIADES consortium covers the entire technology development chain, uniting leading industrial and academic institutions. This strong collaboration ensures that the project’s innovations are not only technically sound but also geared toward real-world applications with high impact potential.
Within PLEIADES, PCRL is responsible for the design, integration, and testing of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and packaged sensors under Work Package 6. PCRL also plays a crucial role in assisting with the embedding of packaged multisensors into composite materials, and is responsible for operating the photonic sensors during all tests and demonstrations involving embedded systems. This work is vital for ensuring the functionality and reliability of the project’s advanced sensor systems. In addition, PCRL contributes to the project’s technical coordination, offering guidance in photonic sensor technology and system integration.
We look forward to continuing this collaboration and supporting the development of innovative space technologies.
🤝 A big thank you to the coordinating team and all partners for the fruitful discussions and excellent collaboration!
