Dr. Giannis Giannoulis received his PhD in 2017 working on plasmonic circuitries for switching concepts and he is now a postdoctoral researcher at the Photonics Communications Research Laboratory (PCRL). His research interests are focused on the field of emerging Quantum Communications and Quantum Key Distribution Systems. He has actively participated in various European research projects focusing on quantum communication technologies, namely UNIQORN, Hellas-QCI, QSNP and LaiQa, aiming at advancing quantum communication technology and incorporate QKD systems into existing communication infrastructures to provide an extra layer of security.
Why World Quantum Day?: April 14 holds special significance as the chosen date for World Quantum Day, symbolizing the importance of Planck’s constant (4.14 × 10–15 eVs) in quantum science. This day serves as a global platform for raising public awareness and understanding of quantum science and technology.
