PCRL at ECOC 2025

The Photonics Communications Research Laboratory (PCRL) will actively contribute to this year’s European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC 2025) with presentations on quantum communications and hybrid optical-wireless technologies.

👨‍🏫 Workshops & Talks (Sunday, Sept 28, 14:00–15:30)

  • Giannis Giannoulis will join Workshop 12: “Is the access network ready to host quantum technologies?”. His talk will focus on the coexistence of classical and quantum key distribution (QKD) signals over PON and optical access infrastructures.

📑 Poster Presentations (Wednesday, Oct 1, 11:00–12:30 | Exhibition)

  • Evrydiki Kyriazi will present: “Hybrid FSO/mmWave Industry 5.0 System Enabled by Ultra-Fast Tunable PZT-based External Cavity Laser.”
This research showcases a hybrid free-space optics/mmWave system tailored for Industry 5.0 applications, with proven reliability over 5 km fiber and 5 m wireless links.
  • Argiris Ntanos will present: “SMF-Coupled Compact Ground Terminal with Advanced Filtering Towards Daylight C-Band Satellite QKD.”
This work demonstrates a compact, high-isolation C-band optical ground terminal for satellite QKD, achieving record >120 dB daylight suppression and validating integration with urban fiber segments.
