The Photonics Communications Research Laboratory (PCRL) at NTUA is delighted to announce the visit of Dr. George Panotopoulos, a distinguished alumnus who completed his diploma thesis with us in 1997. His thesis, titled “Design, fabrication, and characterization of a mode-locked fiber laser,” marked the beginning of an impressive academic and professional journey.
After graduating from the ECE School of NTUA, Dr. Panotopoulos pursued further studies at Caltech in the USA, where he earned an MSc in Electrical Engineering and a PhD with a thesis on “Holographic Information Systems” and a minor in Financial Economics.
Dr. Panotopoulos has had a remarkable career, holding key positions at Agilent Technologies, Avago Technologies, and OptiSolar Technologies. Since 2009, he has been the founder of oeworks, a company dedicated to providing innovative hardware and software solutions that accelerate the value-realization of technology and products.
It was a pleasure to reconnect with Dr. Panotopoulos, share memories, and learn about his ongoing contributions to the field of photonics and beyond. His success story exemplifies the solid foundation provided by PCRL and the endless possibilities available to our current students.
